Job description
At Toku, we create bespoke cloud communications and customer engagement solutions to reimagine customer experiences for enterprises. We provide an end-to-end approach to help businesses overcome the complexity of digital transformation and deliver mission-critical CX through cloud communication solutions. Toku combines local strategic consulting expertise, bespoke technology, regional in-country infrastructure, connectivity, and global reach to serve the diverse needs of enterprises operating at scale.
Headquartered in Singapore, Toku supports customers across APAC and beyond, with a growing footprint across global markets.
We are looking for a highly experienced, hands-on Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to take on the most senior individual-contributor role within our Infrastructure team. Working alongside the VP of Infrastructure, you will help set technical direction, architecture and engineering standards while remaining deeply involved in solving complex technical challenges.
This is a cloud-agnostic role with a strong current emphasis on Microsoft Azure. You will play a leading role in establishing and maturing our Azure platform while also working across our existing AWS environment. You will drive modern cloud architecture, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD and automation, combining strong architectural judgement with hands-on engineering capability.
Job requirements
What you will be doing
Azure cloud architecture: Lead the design and evolution of secure, scalable and highly available Azure infrastructure, including Landing Zone architecture, governance, networking, identity, security guardrails and reusable infrastructure patterns.
Multi-cloud architecture: Apply strong cloud architecture principles across Azure and AWS, establishing appropriate standards for scalability, resilience, security and operational effectiveness.
AWS platform architecture: Continue to evolve our AWS estate across multi-account / AWS Organizations architecture, networking, IAM, security guardrails and core production services.
Technical direction: Act as a senior technical authority for Infrastructure, owning key architectural decisions, establishing engineering standards and identifying opportunities to improve existing approaches.
Infrastructure as Code: Own and improve Terraform-based infrastructure provisioning, developing reusable modules, consistent multi-environment patterns, testing and policy controls for reliable, repeatable deployment.
Kubernetes: Architect, operate and improve production Kubernetes environments across Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Amazon EKS, ensuring they are scalable, resilient, secure and operationally robust.
CI/CD & GitOps: Design and improve infrastructure delivery pipelines using technologies such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins, integrating IaC, version control, automated testing, policy enforcement and deployment automation.
Observability: Build and improve monitoring and observability using technologies such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Cortex, Loki and Azure-native observability services, including dashboards, monitors, alerting and integrations.
Automation & scripting: Use Python and automation to reduce repetitive operational work, integrate infrastructure tooling and improve reliability. Review automation code and provide technical direction on how infrastructure automation should be structured.
Platform engineering: Build reusable infrastructure capabilities that enable engineering teams to provision, deploy and operate applications efficiently with less manual dependency on Infrastructure.
Reliability & security: Engineer for high availability, disaster recovery and production resilience while embedding strong cloud security, IAM, networking, access controls and security guardrails into infrastructure design.
Technical leadership: Mentor infrastructure engineers through hands-on collaboration, technical and design reviews and knowledge sharing, raising engineering capability while remaining an individual contributor.
Cross-functional engineering: Work closely with Software Engineering, Security and other technical teams to understand requirements and design appropriate infrastructure solutions.
We’d love to hear from you if you have
Experience: Approximately 8–14 years of relevant cloud, infrastructure, DevOps or platform engineering experience, including significant hands-on responsibility for production cloud environments and experience operating at Staff, Senior Staff, Principal, Architect or equivalent technical level.
Microsoft Azure: Strong hands-on Azure infrastructure architecture, implementation and operational experience. You should be comfortable designing and establishing Azure environments rather than only administering existing services. Azure Landing Zone, governance, networking, identity and security experience is particularly relevant.
AWS: Good hands-on AWS architecture and production experience across services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudFront and Route53. Multi-account / AWS Organizations experience would be valuable.
Terraform: Advanced hands-on Terraform experience, including reusable modules, state management, multi-environment infrastructure, testing and scalable IaC patterns.
Kubernetes: Strong production Kubernetes experience, ideally across AKS and EKS, with the ability to architect, troubleshoot and improve containerised environments.
CI/CD: Strong experience designing and operating infrastructure CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, Jenkins or comparable technologies. ArgoCD, Flux, Helm or other GitOps experience would be advantageous.
Observability: Hands-on experience configuring monitoring and observability using Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Cortex, Loki, Azure-native services or comparable platforms, including dashboards, alerting and integrations.
Python & automation: Practical hands-on Python experience for infrastructure scripting and automation, with the ability to understand, develop and review automation code.
Cloud architecture: Strong architectural judgement across cloud networking, security, IAM, scalability, availability, disaster recovery and production reliability, combined with the hands-on capability to implement and validate your designs.
Technical leadership: Experience influencing architecture and engineering standards, reviewing technical designs and mentoring engineers while remaining deeply hands-on.
Experience with policy-as-code, FinOps, service meshes, hybrid/on-premise infrastructure, or telecom/CPaaS and regulated/data-residency-sensitive environments would be an advantage.
Location: This role can be remote, based in India or Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Toku has been recognised as a LinkedIn Top Startup and by the Financial Times as one of APAC’s Top 500 High Growth Companies. If you’re looking to join a growing company where you can have meaningful technical influence while solving complex real-world infrastructure challenges, we’d love to hear from you.
